A Different Take on Fall Decor

This morning I woke up my oldest like I do every morning, and then jumped in the shower.

It was my typical morning shower… wash the hair, lather, repeat. (Not really.  I don’t repeat.  Does anyone repeat?)

Then I proceeded to shave.  The right leg, and then… that’s when it happened.

Just as I made one swipe of the razor on my left leg.  Just one.

My razor slipped.. and fell to the ground.  I can see it happening as though it was in slow motion.

Once it hit the ground the razor jumped off the handle and went sliding across the shower floor.

I picked up both pieces and that’s when I saw it.  It was broken.

Like, the part where the razor clips into the handle broke.

Like, there’s no way I can fix this.

Like… OH MY GOODNESS!!  I STILL HAVE ANOTHER LEG TO SHAVE!!

So I sat there for a minute and tried to figure out what to do.  Could my OCD self deal with only one leg shaved today?

Nope.

And of course my husband is out of town, so I couldn’t even use his razor!

So, I carefully grabbed the razor blade on each side and slowly, VERY slowly, proceeded to shave.

And, 30 minutes later, my left leg was.. somewhat smooth with a few random prickly patches here and there.

So all of that to say, my morning got off to a rather funky start, but while I was in the shower, trying not to slice my leg off, I decided to try something different today.

I decided that today I was going to make a centerpiece for my dining room table, and it wasn’t going to be the typical browns and oranges you think of when you think of fall.

Nope.

I wanted something different.  Something unexpected.

So, I pulled out some apples and pears, roses, cut off  some branches from the tree in the back, grabbed some antler sheds and mini white pumpkins, and got busy. The Rustic Pig: A Different Take on Fall

It might not be what you think of when you think of fall, but sometimes the unexpected is just as beautiful.

And, sometimes the unexpected teaches you new things, like how to shave without a handle.

Love you friends!
