I’m taking a day off today… from my windows that is, to work on something totally different! I’m sooo excited! Wait till you see how super cute this is!
Yesterday, my sweet hubby was looking on facebook so he could “Like” my newest window we had made together, and he came across a friend of his who was giving away an antique chest of drawers. Hubby quickly emailed her to see if it was still available, and luckily, it was! I was beyond excited!!
After we got home with it, we looked it over to be sure it was structural enough to refinish. Sadly, it wasn’t. There were several places where the wood was broken or cracked, and the drawers did not come out easily. There was way too much damage on both the inside and outside to make it a piece I’d want to refinish and sell.
One of the things I loved most about this piece were the drawers and drawer pulls. They were absolutely gorgeous! Plus, each drawer had a cute little key hole in it. LOVE it!! So, I decided to salvage what I could to use for other projects, and think long and hard what to do with the drawers.
Here is my first drawer I did today…
First, I painted all the sides of the drawers, distressed it a bit, and added a stencil.
Finally, I took the old legs from the dresser and added them to the bottom. That’s it! Easy!!
Now I have a nice place to put my throw pillows.

That is the cutest and most creative project ever! I love it. What a great idea. I see another project in my future.
